About Joe
Data analyst, PhD
I studied Mathematics at St. Olaf College on a hill in Northfield, Minnesota. In 2014, I completed a PhD in Statistics with the Wolfpack at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina. From 2014-2015, I was a post-doctoral scholar at the Kansas University Medical Center focused on statistical genomics in Kansas City, Missouri. From 2015 to 2021, I worked as a data scientist in search (find "Starbucks") at Apple Maps in Cupertino, California. In 2021, I joined the Lopez-Bigas group at IRB Barcelona and began focus on a project using the Hartwig Medical Foundation data to predict response to immune checkpoint inhibitor therapies. This project at IRB connected me to both the Hartwig Medical Foundation and Fran; and in 2023 I joined the Computational Immunogenenomics group here at VHIO.
I love to spend time with my 4-year old daughter, and like to play to tennis and chess.
