About Sergio
Bioinformatician
I studied Biotechnology at the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona. In 2021, driven by my growing interest in computational biology, I pursued a MSc in Bioinformatics and Systems Biology at the Technical University of Denmark. During my master's studies, I focused on machine learning and genomics, culminating in a thesis at the Danish Cancer Society, where I investigated the scramblase ATG9A using molecular dynamics simulations.
In 2023, I joined the Nutrition Research Center at the Universidad de Navarra as a bioinformatician, where I analyzed microbiota sequencing data from clinical studies. By July 2024, I started at the Computational Immunogenomics group at VHIO as a research support bioinformatician for analyzing whole genome, exome, and transcriptome sequencing data using Nextflow pipelines.
Outside of work, I really enjoy nature, hiking and skiing. I also love to play table-tennis, chess and card games.
